Our research focuses on the role of the plasminogen activating system in neurorepair. More specifically, we investigate the biological mechanisms whereby the release of plasminogen activators from neurons and astrocytes and their interaction with specific receptors promotes axonal and dendritic recovery in the ischemic brain. Our main goal is to use this information to design effective therapeutic strategies to promote functional recovery in patients that have suffered an ischemic stroke.×
