Abstract
The review is devoted to the search for new [non-hematopoietic] stem and progenitor cell populations of human umbilical cord blood, the possibilities of their isolation and therapeutic use. For convenience, the review is divided into several chapters, at the end of each of which there is a separate list of references.

Введение
Активный поиск новых стволовых и прогениторных клеточных популяций в пуповинной крови [ПК] человека обусловлен тем, что этот источник рассматривается как альтернатива костному мозгу. В последние годы, подобно изучению «взрослых» стволовых клеток костного мозга, были исследованы различные клеточные популяции, обладающие признаками «стволовости», в пуповинной крови [ПК] человека. Так, кроме гемопоэтических клеток, были описаны мультипотентные мезенхимальные стволовые клетки ПК [1, 2] и стенки канатика [3], С0133+ популяция [4], эндотелиальные прогениторные клетки [5, 6]. Несколькими группами исследователей было показано наличие плюрипотентной популяции клеток ПК, способной образовывать как мезенхимальные диффероны [остео-, хондро-, адипо- и миобластический] так и экспрессировать нейрональные и гепатоцитарные маркёры in vitro и in vivo [7-9].
Накопленные знания позволили перейти к экспериментам по изучению терапевтической эффективности различных клеточных популяций ПК на моделях у животных.
