Friedenstein, a founder of the hematopoietic organs' stroma doctrine, a discoverer of mesenchymal stem cells (multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells, MMSC), an initiator of the tests to determine the «verity» of stem stromal cells. Discoveries of the scientist and scientific school he created are used both in the research and clinical practice all over the world.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Статья посвящена памяти выдающегося отечественного ученого А.Я. Фриденштейна, основателя учения о строме кроветворных органов, первооткрывателя мезенхимальных стволовых клеток (мультипотентных мезенхимальных стромальных клеток, ММСК), основоположника тестов на определение «истинности» стволовых стромальных клеток. Открытия ученого и созданной им научной школы сегодня используются во всем мире и в научной, и в клинической практике.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>A.J.
